Token of appreciation being presented to Dr Najia Tariq, on behalf of MoPH

On the occasion of World Quality Day 2014, the French Medical Institute for Children celebrated the Fourth Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Convention on Saturday, November 6, 2014, at the French Institute of Afghanistan. This year’s theme was “Building a Quality World Together”.

Quality care and patient safety are fundamental principles of healthcare at FMIC, which recognizes the important role quality plays in healthcare delivery and that consistency, effectiveness and efficiency to its service delivery structure are fundamental to its success.

During her speech, Chief Guest, Dr Najia Tariq, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan stated that quality is a serious global issue and celebration of this day is linked with improving safety standards. She reiterated the Ministry of Public Health's support of quality projects at FMIC and other healthcare organizations. She also thanked FMIC for bringing the event to Kabul.

World  Quality  Day  was  introduced  in  1990  to  increase  awareness  of  quality internationally. It encourages individuals and organizations to focus on the importance of quality, growth and prosperity and demonstrate their commitment to quality excellence.

Presentations were made on quality projects by FMIC staff on a wide range of subjects; the top three projects were selected and honoured with appreciation certificates, with first prize being awarded to Extemporaneous medications for paediatrics, second prize went to Improving patient identification practices in inpatient units and Improving Time – Out compliance, while the third prize was awarded to Improving patient/family education at FMIC.
