Afghan Parliament appreciates contribution of youth

Participants stand as a mark of respect to the national anthem

The Lower House of the Afghan Parliament hosted an appreciation event on November 9, 2014 to honour and recognize the achievements of Afghani youth for their outstanding performance in media, sports and the health sector.

The aim of appreciating and encouraging youth is to actively involve young people in developing policies and educational programmes particularly in the areas of health sector, journalism and sports and motivate them for future endeavors.

Dr Abdullah Fahim, Medical Director, FMIC and Dr Abdul Rauf Baha, Medical Coordinator, FMIC were honored with appreciation certificates for their noteworthy achievements in the health sector.

The Lower House of Parliament is responsible for law making in the country. It consists of 249 delegates from which 68 delegates are women. The delegates are directly elected and serve for five years. 

The event was attended by a large number of prominent doctors, journalists, authors, politicians, members of the diplomatic community, prominent personalities and organizations who have played a remarkable contribution to the country’s historical heritage.​
