COVID-Update March 23, 2020​​​ 

According to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), a total of 40 cases have been confirmed across the country.

The Ministry of Public Health sources said that 220 suspected cases, including two members of parliament, had been registered in the central capital. 

The minister also said that the new suspected cases had surfaced in areas such as Helmand, Farah, Kandahar, and Kunduz provinces.

The Ministry of Public Health confirmed the first death from the coronavirus in northern Balkh province late on Sunday.

As per the directives from government authorities, working hours in government institutions would begin from 8:00 am and end at 1:00 pm without any break.

​COVID-Update March 22, 2020​​

In Afghanistan, ten new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the last 24 hours raising the total cases to 34. 

 Ministry of Public Health is making efforts to increase COVIID-19 testing capacity for the country.  

 It is reported that all public gatherings in Herat province have been banned. The majority of the cases so far have been reported from Herat i.e. 18. 

 The government has assigned health teams for the screening of the passengers in the National Airports and at the borders.

Moreover, the government has established specific areas for quarantine in Kabul and in the provinces for the control of COVID-19 

MoPH has established six committees for the surveillance of COVID-19 at the national and provincial levels.

 Health partners plan to equip a laboratory in Herat that would be able to undertake COVID-19 tests.​


​COVID-Update March 19, 2020​​

While the global toll for COVID-19 cases has risen to 223104 with 9149 death cases, the number of COVID-19 cases in Afghanistan remains 22 since March 16, 2020. 

A 100-beded hospital is under construction in Herat province to defeat COVID-19. The hospital will be constructed within 15-20 days. President Ghani has allocated 400 Million AFN to speed up the construction. This is in addition to another 100-Beded Treatment Center for Isolation and Treatment of COVID-19 which has been inaugurated in Jalalabad, Nangarhar early this month.

The government of Afghanistan has ordered the closure of restaurants and sports centers for the prevention of COVID-19 outbreak in Afghanistan. 

The first meeting of the state committee for public awareness to prevent coronavirus outbreaks was held at the Government Media and Information Center on Monday.

According to news sources, hundreds of containers carrying food items have arrived in Afghanistan as a measure to control food prices in the wake of COVID-19 fear. 

In a recent meeting between Ashraf Ghani and the Chinese embassy in Kabul, China is ready to help Afghanistan by providing medical equipment and sharing experiences to defeat COVID-19. 


C​OVID-Update March 18, 2020

 The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said in a video clip on Tuesday that there is no need for panic buying; the situation is under control. He also assured the nation of no food shortages due to the risk of coronavirus outbreak. 

The president instructed related organs to control the prices of essential items, assuring the government’s committee to deliver its best for the nation in this crucial moment. 

President Ghani further added that in order to normalize the market, her has ordered the distribution of 24,000 tons of wheat from government strategic stacks to the vulnerable segments of the society. 

According to the Ministry of Public Health, the first person to recover from COVID-19 has returned home, whereas the number of positive cases of COVID-19 remains 22 in Afghanistan.

According to World Health Organization, 8 new countries/territories/areas (African Region [3], Eastern Mediterranean Region [1], Region of the Americas [3], and Western Pacific Region [1]) in have ​reported cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.​

رئیس جمهور افغانستان، آقای دکتر اشرف غنی روز سه شنبه در یک ویدیوی کوتاه اذعان داشتند: هیچ نگرانی برای افزایش قیمت ها نیست و اوضاع کاملاً تحت کنترل می باشد. وی همچنین اطمینان دادند که خطر کمبود مواد غذایی به دلیل همه گیر شدن​ ویروس جدید کرونا وجود نخواهد داشت
آقای رئیس جمهور به همه ادارات مربوطه هدایت دادند که قیمت کالا و موارد ضروری را تحت کنترل داشته باشند وی همچنان اطمینان دادند که کمیته موظف در این لحظات حساس به بهترین وجه فعالیت خواهند نمود
وی همچنین اذعان داشتند که برای برقراری ثبات در بازار، دستور توزیع بیست و چهار هزار تن گندم را از طرف حکومت به نقاط آسیب پذیر جامعه صادر نموده اند
نظر به بیانیه وزارت محترم صحت عامه، اولین شخص مصاب به ویروس جدید کرونا، بعد از درمان و تداوی به خانه برگشته است در حالی که تعداد واقعات مثبت ویروس جدید کرونا در افغانستان 22 تن می باشند
نظر به بیانیه سازمان صحی جهان، در طی 24 ساعت گذشته، 8 کشور جدید به شمول 3 کشور در افریقا، یک کشور در مناطق مدیترانه ای، 3 کشور جدید در مناطق امریکای شمالی و جنوبی و یک کشور جدید در غرب بحیره آرام واقعات مثبت ویروس جدید کرونا را گزارش داده اند
