​FMIC holds continuing medical education session and exposure visit to cardiac services​

On July 19, 2017, FMIC hosted around 60 doctors from Ibn-Sina Chest Hospital, FMIC referral doctors and FMIC cardiology consultants in a Continuing Medical Education Session (CME). The CME presented “Eleven years of Cardiac Services at FMIC” along with an exposure visit to FMIC Cardiac Services.                                                                 

The session started with a presentation by Dr Najeebullah Bina, Chief, Cardiac Services. He briefed and introduced the services of the department from the beginning of its services to now-highlighting the achievements and progress.

Dr Jamshid Rezaie, Interventional Cardiologist, presented case studies; different cases of angiography, angioplasty, chronic total occlusion and primary PCI were discussed. After the presentations, the participants were provided a short question/answer session.

Participants were also provided a tour of FMIC facilities:  FMIC compound, cardiac emergency services, Cath-Lab and others.

Dr Hassan Mujtaba, Director, Ibn-Sina Chest hospital, and referral doctors appreciated FMIC hospitality and the useful session.  They expressed their satisfaction and happiness for having such an equipped heart centre in Afghanistan. Dr Mujtaba emphasized on having long-term mutual cooperation and providing training opportunities for CCU and ICU nurses at FMIC were a priority. He also requested for a MoU where they can refer complicated cardiac cases to FMIC. 

Dr Bina expressed his enthusiasm to help Afghan people and train the local doctors. “FMIC doors are always open for our colleagues from other hospital”, Said Dr Bina.

At the end of the programme, Dr Mirza Mohammadi Nijrabi, Medical Director, FMIC thanked the participants for joining the session. He appreciated the interest shown by the Afghan medical fraternity in learning and knowledge sharing. He thanked the Cardiac Team and Marketing and Communications Department for organising this session. He also congratulated the cardiac team for achieving another milestone at FMIC.

FMIC now offers cardiac emergency services 24/7 in its newly established Cardiac Emergency Department. The Emergency Department at FMIC, a specialised department, established for patients with heart attack and acute illnesses. The physicians, nurses, and staff in the Emergency Department are specially trained to care for emergency conditions.
