French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) - founded in 2006 is a unique four-party public-private partnership between the Governments of Afghanistan and France, a French NGO – La Chaine de L'Espoir and the Aga Khan Development Network through the Aga Khan University Hospital. The incumbent is responsible to recruit and manage physicians and various non-medical personnel. Along with senior management, the Medical Director examines and coordinate various functions to run the affairs of medical division with focus on quality and excellence in service delivery. He or she is also responsible for the training, continuing education and promotion of subordinate staff. Additional duties include managing of Medical Division budget, liaising with other medical or non-medical departments and ensuring the compliance of the Medical Division.
Build capacity of medical staff and promote research activities in the medical services.
Introduce quality measures and enhance the quality of services within the medical division
Ensure excellent working relationships with Afghan Health Authorities and related ministries and maintain business relation with other hospitals/NGOs.
Develop, implement and monitor medical policies, procedures and systems and provide strategic leadership to the department heads in the medical services.
Create an enabling atmosphere of teamwork through consensus building, participatory planning and execution of plans within departments and sections, and also develop a multi years program plan consistent with the mission of the FMIC.
Develop a culture of care, safe practices and risk management within the division.
Develop harmony amongst the faculty members; clarify their functions and create mutual understanding.
Assist in the recruitment and retention of well-qualified clinical and academic specialists.
Facilitate safe and cost effective clinical practices through implementation of clinical governance framework and clinical programs.
Coordinate efficient sharing of common resources such as critical care, diagnostic facilities, and assign budget for staff, and equipment.
Review patient complaints and ensure a satisfactory resolution thereof with proper corrective and preventive actions.
Create effective and ongoing programs to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of care and services.
Qualification and Requirements
MD and specialist in Medical from a recognized university/ institute. Medical Specialist with Master's Degree in Business Administration or Hospital Management will be given preference.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in medical management with a well-known healthcare organization.
