FMIC proudly commemorated World Patient Safety Day with an enlightening presentation by Dr. Abdul Khaliq Shahab, the Quality and Patient Safety Officer at FMIC
On September 17, 2025, the FMIC proudly commemorated World Patient Safety Day with an enlightening presentation by Dr. Abdul Khaliq Shahab, the Quality and Patient Safety Officer at FMIC. The event drew approximately 48 medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and medical students, all eager to enhance their understanding of patient safety.
Dr. Shahab delivered a comprehensive presentation covering a wide range of topics, such as the definition of patient safety, its importance in hospitals, and the origins of the patient safety concept. He addressed critical issues, including medical errors, the dangers in healthcare, types of errors, human errors, and the role of the WHO/World Alliance for Patient Safety.
Additionally, Dr. Shahab outlined the Patient Safety Goals and explained the principles of patient safety, including the "5 Rights" and various safety dimensions. He emphasized the shared responsibility in preventing medical errors and identified the top seven barriers to implementing effective patient safety systems.
The event fostered a collaborative environment, encouraging dialogue and
questions among participants, which significantly enriched the learning
experience.
