January 21, 2026 – Dr. Omid Ahmad Faizi, the neonatologist and head of the Department of Neonatology at FMIC, led an enlightening Continuing Medical Education (CME) session titled “Neonatal Resuscitation." The event drew in 66 medical professionals, trainees, and the medical director, all eager to expand their knowledge in this vital area of healthcare.

During the session, participants delved into a comprehensive array of topics, including the introduction to neonatal resuscitation, fetal circulation, and the crucial transition from fetal to neonatal respiration. Key discussions included preparation for resuscitation, identifying risk factors, assembling the resuscitation team, and the critical “golden minute" during resuscitation efforts.

Attendees learned about clearing secretions from the airway, umbilical cord management, and the normal temperature of newborns in the delivery room. Practical insights, such as when to initiate chest compressions, how to assess heart rate post-compression, and the appropriate use of medication including epinephrine, were thoroughly covered. Dr. Faizi also shared the top 10 home measures for neonatal life support, enhancing participants' understanding of immediate care.
As the session concluded, participants expressed their gratitude for FMIC's dedication to hosting such informative seminars.
