FMIC participates in Medical Technology Conference at Kabul​​​

​The Conference aimed at highlighting the different challenges faced by both private and public sector medical facilities and upgrading the services using the technology made available by different investment companies. FMIC Staff participated at the USAID supported Medical Technology Conference in Kabul by delivering key lectures on topics related to the medical technology and medical equipment.  

From FMIC three presentations were made. Dr. Najibullah Rasouly, Head of Radiology Department talked about Medical Imaging in Developing Countries, Dr Hammad Durrani, Administrator, Strategy, Planning, & Communication discussed Telemedicine & HMIS – Opportunities in Afghanistan Case Studies; while Mr Ghulam Karim Sakhi, Administrator, Facilities Management Division presented on Professional Skills Needed for Medical Equipment & Laboratory Technicians and Biomedical Engineers.

FMIC’s contribution and expertise in the conference theme was highly appreciated during and after the conference. 

The two-day conference was held to bring together clinics, hospitals, physicians, laboratories and diagnostic centres, Ministry of Public Health and other stakeholders from across the country. Experts in the medical technology, medical equipment planning field, equipment suppliers and servicing companies, healthcare, business planning experts were invited to deliver short lectures. The objective was to present an agenda that provides participants with the information, planning considerations, and investment analysis tools to better understand the business planning aspects of introducing new services. 

The conference was organized by USAID’s Assistance in Building Afghanistan by Developing Enterprises (ABADE) Programme in collaboration with private sector partners.

The Conference was participated by doctors, medical technicians, medical facility administrators, equipment suppliers and service providers to discuss the requirements and considerations of investing in medical technology and medical services in Afghanistan. 

ABADE is a four-year project which started in October 2012. It partners with private sector enterprises and supports investments that will contribute to a growing economy, job creation, and the transfer of technology and management skills to Afghan enterprises. ​
