Local community women attended a session on breastfeeding
FMIC aims to increase community awareness of health issues, particularly in the neighboring community of FMIC. On September 12, 2024, the marketing and communication department held a session on “breastfeeding" for the women of the local community. Dr. Wajiha Latifi delivered the presentation, and 165 community members took part.
The session covered topics such as the definition of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding, the best time to start breastfeeding soon after birth, breast milk and the different types of breast milk, the composition of the breast milk, stages of breastfeeding, benefits of breastfeeding for babies and mothers, and the nutrition needs of the mother while breastfeeding, and dangers of artificial feeding. The facilitator also described different recommended positions of babies and mothers during breastfeeding, explaining how a mother may know her child's need for feeding and signs confirming that the infant's stomach is full. She also shared some myths and facts related to breastfeeding.
After Dr. Wajiha's presentation, the screening team recorded the female participants' health history. Accordingly, they referred the participants to the various medical divisions in the FMIC for further assessments. Majorly, they were referred to the internal medicine, orthopedic, and psychology divisions.
The local community female participants, the head of the community council, and the in-charge officer of the third police station appreciated the session and thanked FMIC for conducting such an effective and informative session and offering free health services to their community. At the end of the session, refreshments were distributed by the FMIC team to the participants.
