Radiology Services

Radiology services at FMIC support procedures across the full spectrum of our hospital’s clinical specialties.

We strive to use the most current techniques and technologies, for instance by increasingly utilizing filmless radiology.

All of our services are licensed by the Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health.

Our Radiology Services include:

Computerized Tomography Scan
A computerized tomography (CT) scan is one of the most important tools used to diagnose a variety of medical issues, including spinal injuries, cancer, tumours, and internal bleeding.

FMIC’s specialists utilize a 16-slice CT system, which increases the accuracy of the results, while making the exam itself shorter. We are also equipped with a single-slice CT scanner for routine brain procedures.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a safe, non-invasive technique that allows physicians to take pictures of organs and structures inside the body. This enables us to diagnose and plan treatments for a variety of illnesses. All MRI procedures are managed by FMIC’s specialised technicians and highly qualified anaesthetists.

Mammography
Mammography is an x-ray technique designed specifically to examine the breast. It is central to the early detection of diseases, particularly cancer.

Our experienced team and modern technologies allow us to provide two types of examinations:

Screening Mammogram
This is a routine examination for women who do not have any symptoms. It is designed to detect breast cancer and other diseases early and we recommend that women between the ages of 40 and 70 be screened on a regular basis.

Diagnostic Mammogram
This is a more in-depth examination, which is designed to provide physicians with more information about women who have exhibited symptoms of breast disease.

Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a method of using high-frequency sound waves to obtain images from inside the human body. The sound waves reflect off the patient’s body, are recorded and then displayed as real-time images.

FMIC is equipped with two high-end, multi-frequency-range ultrasound probes. This allows our ultrasound service to provide routine adult and paedriatic procedures in both colour and black / white.

X-rays - Digital Radiography
Digital radiography (x-ray) is a simple and non-invasive examination that minimizes the chances of repeated exposure and decreases the radiation dose. Our team utilizes features such as high KV, which facilitates visualising the contents of the mediastinum, lungs and heart in chest radiography.
