April 7, 2026 – Kabul: The French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) successfully hosted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session titled “Minimally Invasive Surgery in Children", led by Dr. Mohammad Tareq Rahimi, Medical Director and Head of Pediatric Surgery.
The session attracted a diverse group of participants, including doctors and medical students from various universities, reflecting strong interest and active engagement from the healthcare community.
The program commenced with an introductory presentation by the Marketing Team, highlighting FMIC's latest services, key achievements, and the introduction of the Family Hifazat App.
Dr. Rahimi delivered a comprehensive and insightful presentation covering a wide range of clinical and educational topics. These included an introduction to minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in children, its principles, and advantages, as well as technical challenges associated with pediatric MIS. He also addressed important aspects such as preoperative assessment, patient positioning, placement of the Veress needle, and the safety considerations of using the umbilicus for primary port insertion.
The session further explored contraindications and potential complications of laparoscopic surgery, appropriate case selection, levels of surgical practice, and ongoing developments in the field. Dr. Rahimi also discussed modernization trends and shared practical tips to ensure safe laparoscopic procedures, along with an overview of the history and evolution of minimally invasive surgery.
At the conclusion of the session, a cake-cutting
ceremony was held, followed by the distribution of certificates to the
participants. Attendees expressed their appreciation for FMIC’s commitment to
organizing informative seminars that facilitate knowledge exchange among
healthcare professionals and promote proactive efforts toward improved health
outcomes.
