December 9, 2025, The French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) organized a health awareness session titled “Maternal Mortality Rates During Pregnancy," led by Dr. Zuhra Nasery, a first-year resident. The event successfully attracted 22 local women from the community, highlighting the growing interest in maternal health issues.
During the session, participants engaged in an in-depth exploration of various topics related to maternal health. Dr. Nasery provided insights into pregnancy-related deaths, direct and late maternal mortality, and the underlying causes of maternal death. She elaborated on the reasons for the significant decline in maternal mortality rates over the past 60 years and discussed the barriers to maternal health within the community.
The session also included discussions on the maternal mortality index, maternal illnesses and disabilities, and various maternal health and safety programs. Dr. Nasery emphasized the critical factors influencing maternal and child health, alongside the importance of prenatal care, breaking down the maternal process into key timeframes.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees expressed
their appreciation for FMIC’s commitment to health education and resources.
