December 17, 2025 – Dr. Mazari Aria Popal, the Obstetrics and Gynecology consultant at FMIC, led a Continuing Medical Education (CME) session entitled “Acute Fatty Liver in Pregnancy." The event attracted 45 participants, including Obstetrics and Gynecology specialists and internal medicine residents.

During the session, attendees delved into a comprehensive array of topics, including the definition of Acute Fatty Liver in Pregnancy, epidemiology and risk factors, pathogenesis, initial symptoms of AFLP, and diagnostic criteria. Participants also examined laboratory, imaging, and histological findings, differential diagnosis, and the diagnostic evaluation process. Dr. Aria further outlined the initial work-up for patients, management strategies, critical care support measures, monitoring and treatment of hypoglycemia, and post-delivery follow-up and prognosis.

At the conclusion of the session, participants expressed their appreciation for FMIC's commitment to hosting such informative seminars. They highlighted the importance of creating a platform for knowledge exchange among healthcare professionals, which ultimately enhances their capabilities to effectively address complex medical issues like acute fatty liver in pregnancy.
