January 25, 2026 – Mr. Qahir Jawad, the Assistant Manager of Nursing Education Services at FMIC, successfully led a training session titled “First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS)." The event brought together 12 participants from the main office, including senior management, and an additional 18 participants who joined virtually from various provinces, all under the guidance of the Country Director.
During the session, attendees engaged in in-depth discussions covering a wide array of crucial topics. Key subjects included the definition of first aid, an overview of Basic Life Support (BLS), and essential anatomical and physiological concepts such as the functioning of brain cells. Other topics addressed were the indications for BLS, the chain of survival for adults, techniques for effective chest compressions, and detailed methods like the Head Tilt-Chin Lift and Jaw Thrust techniques.
Participants also learned about CPR for children, the differences between adult and pediatric CPR, and when to discontinue BLS. Additional discussions focused on foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) in adults, causes of FBAO, and the three maneuvers to remove foreign bodies. The correct positions for the Heimlich maneuver for both conscious adults and children, as well as addressing airway obstructions in pregnant and obese victims, were also practical aspects demonstrated during the session.
At the conclusion of the training, the Country
Director of Children in Crisis/Street Child expressed gratitude for the
commitment and participation of all attendees, emphasizing the importance of
such training in enhancing healthcare skills and preparedness.
