August 5, 2026, FMIC commemorated its 20th anniversary in a special ceremony attended by the Institute's leadership, Board members, international partners, and staff.
The event brought together key stakeholders to celebrate two decades of FMIC's contributions to healthcare in Afghanistan and to reflect on the Institute's achievements and growth since its establishment.
During the ceremony, Aziz Ahmad Jan, Chief Executive Officer of FMIC; Najmuddin Najm, Chairman of the FMIC Board of Directors; Dr. Eric Cheysson, President of La Chaîne de l'Espoir; and Nadeem Mustafa Khan, Senior Advisor to the President of Aga Khan University and Board Member of FMIC, delivered remarks highlighting FMIC's progress over the past 20 years.
The speakers acknowledged the Institute's significant role in providing specialized and high-quality healthcare services across Afghanistan. They also shared personal experiences and reflections on their partnership with FMIC, recognizing its journey from its early years to becoming a leading healthcare institution in the country.
In their addresses, they emphasized FMIC's achievements in healthcare delivery, medical education, capacity building, quality improvement initiatives, specialized clinical expertise, and international collaboration. The speakers also stressed the importance of building on these accomplishments and continuing efforts to strengthen healthcare services in the years ahead.A special segment of the ceremony was dedicated to recognizing FMIC employees who have demonstrated long-term commitment to the institution. Fifty-three staff members who have completed 20 years of continuous service were honored with certificates of appreciation in recognition of their dedication and contributions.
