​The Marketing and Communications department, in collaboration with the Obstetrics and Gynecology department, conducted a CME in Malalai Hospital on September 13, 2023, from 9:00 AM  to 10:30 AM. Dr Salma Akbari , FMIC gynecologist, presented a comprehensive lecture on pop smear to 55 doctors, nurses, and midwives from the gynecology and surgery departments. During the session, participants were briefed about the definition of a pap smear, risk factors, why a pap smear is necessary, how often a woman should have a pap smear, prevention, treatment options, pap smears in pregnancy, and the target group of women for a pop smear.

The management and participants from Malalai Hospital, appreciated the FMIC’s initiative for conducting CME and requested to arrange more sessions in the future. They also praised Dr Salama Akbari for her comprehensive presentation and for sharing scientific information with all participates.

FMIC is planning to conduct more CME sessions in the future to enhance the knowledge and skills of health practitioners including doctors and nurses of different public hospitals in Kabul.
