The French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC), through its Marketing and Communication Department in collaboration with the ENT Department, recently conducted an informative session on Foreign-Body Airway Aspiration (FBAO).
The session was led by Dr. Abdul Wakil Eshrati, FMIC's consultant and head of the ENT department, and was attended by 48 doctors and medical students. Dr. Eshrati delivered a comprehensive lecture covering crucial aspects of FBAO, including its causes, types, diagnosis, and management. The session also addressed life-saving techniques such as managing choking, mild and severe airway obstructions, and the three key maneuvers to remove foreign bodies.
Attendees received hands-on knowledge on performing the Heimlich maneuver for conscious adults and children, airway obstruction management in pregnant and obese individuals, as well as handling responsive and unresponsive infants with FBAO.
To enhance the learning experience, Dr. Eshrati provided a live example of a foreign-body airway aspiration case, offering participants a practical understanding of the condition and its management.
The session concluded with attendees expressing their gratitude to FMIC for organizing such a valuable and impactful event, further strengthening the institute's commitment to medical education and emergency preparedness.
