​FMIC doctors receive awards at international conference in India​​

Dr Jalil Wardak, Dr Dunya Mughal and Dr Yalda Obaidy receive International Achievement and Young Scientists Awards.

​The French Medical Institute for Children has been recognized with ‘International Achievement’ and ‘Young Scientist’ awards at Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatobiliary, Transplant and Nutrition Controversies and Consensus (PGHTNCON-2016), at Jaipur India.  PGHTNCON-2016 is one of the world’s largest international conference on paediatric gastroenterology and hepatology.

The conference was held from 11th to 14th February 2016 and was attended by over 80 speakers from 55 countries. PGHTNCON-2016 is a platform for global networking as it brings together renowned speakers and scientists across the globe to a most exciting and memorable scientific event filled with much enlightening interactive sessions, world class exhibitions and poster presentations.

Dr Jalil Wardak, paediatric Surgeon and head of Paediatric surgery department, received the award for International Achievement on his presentation "separation of conjoined twins Aisha and Sadiqa by afghan surgeon team at FMIC”, while Dr Dunya Mughal and Dr Yalda Obaidy, third year residents of Paediatric Surgery, received Young Scientists awards on their presentations "Gastric transposition for Oesophageal replacement among children and ‘outcome of Trachioesphageal Fistula respectively". 

“Me and my team were overwhelmed at the recognition of FMIC and Afghanistan at such a big event. The international Doctor fraternity was highly impressed by the level of care provided at FMIC.  Good and positive news coming from Afghanistan is always received well internationally” says Dr Wardak.

From FMIC, Dr Ameena Shaheer, Anaesthesiologist also presented Management of Gulliean Barrie Syndrome in Paediatric ICU in Afghanistan. She along with Dr Abdul Rahuf Baha, Medical director; Dr Ahmad Saleh Ahmadzai, Specialiat internal Medicine; Dr Hamayon Atiq Ghairatmal, Paediatric Surgeon and Dr Abdul Kafi Muzafar, Gastroenterologist from FMIC also chaired multiple sessions. 

The main objective of the conference was to spread knowledge of evidence-based practice in Pediatric, gastroenterology, hepatology, transplant and nutrition with a view to attain maximum knowledge about the causes and effects of such chronic diseases and also approach towards its diagnostics cure.

From Afghanistan apart from FMIC, Ministry of Public Health of Afghanistan, Jamhoriat Hospital and Ghalib University participated in the conference.  It was a unique opportunity for Afghan doctors to share their expertise in clinical practice and their knowledge with others and generate new perspectives and explore the new dimension of research.
