Fahima (29), a modest woman who lives in the northern area of Kabul in an elite family. She was feeling pain in her lower abdomen along with an abnormal period with many discomforts. She visited a few hospitals near her home to find the chance of treatment. Some doctors recommended surgery for Fahima, but she never wanted to undergo surgery. One day, she decided to visit FMIC hoping that her illness will be treated by medication. “Surgery is my nightmare. First, because I can’t afford the charges and second, I am not sure about the outcome.” She said.

She visited FMIC obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Farzana Wali Jebran. After a careful checkup and uterus ultrasound, it was found out that the patient is suffering from “ectopic pregnancy” a disease in which a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb, usually in the fallopian tubes. The prognosis of this disease could be salpingectomy and infertility.

Young Fahima was lucky enough to receive a new method of drug therapy while in most of the hospitals; surgery is the only option for treatment of this disease.

Fahima used the medication for three weeks based on the instructions of the doctor and fully recovered. She will not feel any kind of pain anymore and the outcome of the drug therapy was wonderful. “I am so lucky to visit FMIC and evade surgery.” She added.

Fahima regularly visits FMIC for further consultations and she believes that mothers’ health should be in priority in every society.
