Malalai
Hospital Doctors Received Continuing Medical Education (CME) Training
on Infertility Surgery
The Marketing and Communication Department conducted a
CME Workshop at Malalai Hospital on April 26, 2021. Malalai
Hospital is a specialized maternity public hospital in Kabul. In this
session, 54 Obs & Gyn doctors and trainees participated. Dr
Hafiza Omarkhil, Deputy of the Hospital opened the
session by briefly talking about the good relations and collaboration
that exist between Malali Hospital and FMIC.
After the welcome remarks by the FMIC Marketing Team, Dr
Farzana Wali Jebran, Head of FMIC Obs & Gyn delivered a presentation
titled “Infertility Workup” that focused on topics such as prevalence
of infertility, cauces of infertility, indications and timing of the
infertility evaluation, reproductive surgery for female infertility,
diagnostic laparoscopy, surgical route, endometriosis, procedures for
improving tubal patency, treatment of distal tubal, and laparoscopic
ovarian surgery. Then, Dr. Ramin Saadaat, Histopathology Consultant
at FMIC, talked about the histopathology services at FMIC and how to
handle biopsy specimens.

Online CME with a Doctor from Paris
The
Marketing and Communications Department in collaboration with Vision
Care Clinic conducted an online CME on May 19, 2021. The
session, which took 2.5 hours was facilitated by
Prof Jean Louis Bourges. In total, 18 ophthalmologists
participated in this program. His presentation was on "
Evaluation and Treatment of Keratoconus" which is a common eye
disease. The sub-topics included various degree of Keratoconus and
pathology and treatment of Keratoconus. The session was
highly appreciated by all participants.

CME Session
on Diagnostic Approach to Breast Disease and Introduction and
Significance of Cytogenetics at Istiqlal Hospital
On May 26, 2021, the Marketing and Communications
Department in collaboration with Laboratory and Pathology
Departments held a CME Session at Istiqlala Hospital from 9:30
-11:00 AM. The first session commenced by FMIC Pathologist, Dr
Ramin Saadaat. The session was attended by 25
surgery, gynecology and internal medicine doctors. The topic
covered sampling of breast lesions, breast cancer risk factors and
types, the importance of newly established diagnostic and prognostic
markers for breast cancer at FMIC, and information regarding general
rules for submitting the biopsy article to a scientific journal.
The second presentation was delivered by Mr Hadi Saqib, Laboratory
Technologist on Introduction and Significance of Cytogenetic. The
session was followed by a Q&A session by the participants.
Istiqlal hospital management and doctors thanked Dr Ramin Saadaat and
Mr Hadi Saqib for their presentations and appreciated
FMIC on conducing such session. They considered such sessions as
important for sharing knowledge and experiences among healthcare workers and asked
FMIC to organize similar session for them in the future.

Research Seminar/CME Session on Conjoined Twin’s
Separation at FMIC
On May 26, 2021, the Marketing and Communications
Department in collaboration with FMIC PGME Program held a Research
Seminar/CME for FMIC medical staff, medical staff from other
hospitals, and students of medical universities. The objective of
this event was to share the lessons-learned from the successful
operation of a conjoined-twin at FMIC with the medical community. Dr.
Tariq Rahimi, Director of Pediatric Surgery Department, facilitated
the session, which took about two hours. In total, 35 healthcare workers
from various hospitals and universities attended in the program.
The session was followed by a Question and Answer session. Dr. Tariq
Rahimi answered the questions raised by the participants.
Participants expressed their interest in such programs and requested
to be informed if similar programs are conducted in the future.

Marketing and Communications Department Conducted
a CME Session on COVID-19 Management at Jumhoriat Hospital
On June 30, 2021, the Marketing and
Communications Department held a CME Session at Jumhuriat
Hospital. The session was facilitated by Dr. Saifullah, FMIC Pulmonologist,
and lasted from 9:00 - 10:30 AM. In total, 36 surgery and
internal medicine doctors from Jumhoriat Hospital participated in
this event. The presentation covered updated COVID-19 guidelines
based on WHO, IDSA, PCS, NIH, Math, and ERS.
Jumhuriat Hospital management and doctors thanked FMIC for organizing
this event and considered such sessions as important for sharing
knowledge and experiences among healthcare service providers. They
asked FMIC team to organize similar session for them in the
future.

Najiba (15) was suffering from primary Amenorrhea
and periodic monthly pain for over a year. The cause for her
pain was hematometra (accumulation of blood in the uterine cavity).

Local Community Women Received Training on Stomach
Diseases
Community Engagement Team in collaboration with the
Gastroenterology Department conducted a session on “Common Stomach
Diseases During Ramadan” on Thursday 22 April 2021. Dr Atiqullah
Halimi, FMIC Gastroenterologist facilitate the session. In
total, 37 local community women participated in this event. The
topics mainly covered: choosing the right diet during the holy month
of Ramadan, prospect of digestive tract patients during Ramadan,
timely diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract diseases,
perspective of patients with digestive tract during pregnancy,
and information on the diagnosis and treatment of H pylori.

Local
Community Women Received Training on COVID-19
Community Engagement Programme (CEP) aims to provide health
awareness to the general public especially to the neighboring
community through training and health awareness sessions. On May
24, 2021, CEP in collaboration with the Pulmonology Department conducted
a Health Awareness Session on COVID-19 and COVID-19 Vaccination. Dr
Saifullah Abdul Rasheed, FMIC Pulmonologist, facilitated the
session that was attended by 21 community women. The session
included information on how to protect ourselves from COVID-19, how
to identify its symptoms, what to do if we are infected, how to
deal with an infected patient, and vaccination effects and
side-effects.

Received Training on Follow up of Rh Negative Mothers During
Pregnancy
As part of the Health Awareness Programme that aims to improve the
health awareness of the general public, a health awareness session
was conducted at Markazi Jamatakhana on June 13, 2021 in
Kabul. The Marketing Department, in collaboration with the
Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, conducted the session
on follow up of RH negative during pregnancy. Dr Nelofar
Sadiq, FMIC Consultant, facilitated the session that was
attended by 16 community women.
