FMIC,  AKU to train Afghan doctors

In the face of a serious shortage of specialised healthcare workers in Afghanistan, the French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children inducts 28 Afghan doctors, 10 women and 18 men, in the fresh cohort of its Postgraduate Medical Education programme. Initiated in partnership with the Afghan Ministry of Public Health and the Aga Khan University in 2012, the programme has so far graduated 74 specialist doctors, including Afghanistan’s first female specialists in pathology, radiology, paediatric surgery, and anaesthesia.

Ninth FMIC Annual International Scientific Conference on “The Science of Healthcare: Access & Quality”

The French Medical Institue for Mothers and Children (FMIC) held its third graduation ceremony of the postgraduate medical education programme (PGME) on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at FMIC in Kabul.

Afghanistan’s first women doctor specializing in radiology is among the 12 doctors awarded certificates of specialization by Dr. Bashir Noormal, Representative of the Ministry of Public Health in Afghanistan.​

Ninth FMIC Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Convention “‘100 Years of Quality: Celebrating Global Efforts towards Quality’”​

The French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) held its Ninth Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Convention on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Since 2011, FMIC has annually sponsored the quality and patient safety convention, which showcases Afghan health professionals’ high capacity for critical thinking and resolve for quality healthcare.

FMIC Marks the Achievements of 13 New Specialist Doctors at Graduation Ceremony 2019

The French Medical Institute for Mothers and Children (FMIC) held its fourth graduation ceremony of the Postgraduate Medical Education Programme (PGME) on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at FMIC auditorium. 13 doctors were awarded certificates of specialization by  Dr. Ferozuddin Feroz, Minister for Public Health and Dr. Shafiq Mirzazada, Director of Academic Projects in Afghanistan Aga Khan University.

A newborn baby, Bibi Amena, is treated for a gunshot wound to her leg after she was rescued from the maternity hospital attack that killed her mother. 

Gunmen who attacked a maternity hospital in Kabul came “with the purpose of killing mothers in cold blood”, systematically shooting every woman in labor and new mothers they came across the charity.​
